0342 Poland - On the Plum Trail

private swap

In 2008, the Na Śliwkowym Szlaku (On the Plum Trail) association was established and it includes representatives of the 7 communes of Małopolska region: Czchów, Gnojnik, Iwkowa (Brzeski district), Łososina Dolna, and Gródek on the Dunajec river (Nowosądecki district), Lipnica Murowana (Bocheński district), and Laskowa (Limanowski district).
If there is anything you wish to know about plums, visit Małopolska. Suski Sechlońskie produced in Laskowa commune are a true delicacy. These are purple plums or similar plums which, after segregation, are placed on wooden grates and smoked. This is when the process of drying with hot smoke of deciduous wood begins and it lasts for 4 to 6 days. Slightly sweet with characteristic aroma, they are an ideal snack or an ingredient of compote. Their name comes from the local dialect. Suska means a prune, and sechlońska comes from the name of Sechna, a village in Laskowa commune. On 28 November 2006, the Suska Sechlońska was placed on the List of Traditional Products and on 8 October 2010, it was registered as a product with Protected Geographical Indication.
