Brazil, officially known as Federative Republic of Brazil is a country located in South America. It is 5th most largest country in the world and also 5th most populated country in the world.
The national flag of Brazil is a blue disc depicting a starry sky spanned by a curved band inscribed with the national motto, within a yellow rhombus, on a green field. The flag of Brazil contains 27 stars representing the Brazilian states and the Federal District.
The colours were suggested by Dom Pedro’s wife, a descendant of the house of Habsburg. Its imperial colours were black and yellow, whereas the royal house of Bragança, to which Dom Pedro belonged, was symbolized by green. Thus, green and yellow came to be chosen as the Brazilian colours; these colours were also associated with the verdure of the land and with its great mineral wealth, especially gold.
