Postcrossing

Vintage karte of Chicago!
As a child I was a fan of American professional basketball team Chicago Bulls.
Michael Jordan and his Dream Team teammate Scottie Pippen aren't the only famous players to have once donned the red, black, and white. Norm Van Lier, Reggie Theus, and Artis Gilmore are just a few more examples.

0425 USA - Miami

private swap

Miami was named for the Mayaimis, a Native American tribe who lived in the area until the 17th or 18th century. The Mayaimis took their name from Lake Okeechobee, which was called Mayaimis or “big water”.
Miami Beach is one of the few man-made islands in the United States. It was once a desolate coconut grove plantation. Years back, most people would have never guessed that it would now be the popular tourist destination that it is today.

South Beach - clear waves, strong breezes and an eclectic amount of people. ;)

0357 USA - Washington, DC. Columbia

private swap

Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and commonly referred to as Washington, "the District", or simply D.C., is the capital of the United States.
The US Capitol is frequently mistaken for the White House by first-time visitors to Washington, DC. The US Capitol is one of the most visited federal buildings.
This is where Congress meets and conducts business. It is located on the east end of the Mall. Construction of the building started in 1792, and its design was modified several times, until it was finished in 1865. The Capitol's most recognizable feature is the 180-foot-high cast iron dome of the Great Rotunda. In addition to its historical association, the Capitol Building is also a vast artistic treasure house. The works of such famous artists as Gilbert Stuart, Rembrandt Peale and John Trumbull are displayed on the walls. The Great Rotunda is decorated with a massive fresco by Constantino Brumidi. A monorail subway joins the House and Senate wings of the Capitol with the Congressional office buildings.
Construction of Lincoln Memorial to the 16th President of the United States started in 1914 and was completed in 1922. It is located on the west end of the Mall. Architect Henry Bacon modeled the marble, granite and limestone building after the Greek Parthenon. The inside of the memorial is divided into three chambers: central, north and south. A white marble statue of President Lincoln sits in the central chamber.
Washington Monument - Construction of this magnificent Washington, D.C., monument took nearly a century of planning, building and controversy. The tapered shaft, or obelisk, is made of stone and is covered with white marble. The top of the monument, which you can get to only by elevator, provides a panoramic view of the city.
White House - The 132-room White House is the official residence of the president. The rooms for public functions are on the first floor. The second and third floors are used as the residence of the president and first family. The most celebrated public room is the East Room, where formal receptions take place. Other public rooms are the Red Room, the Green Room and the Blue Room. The State Dining Room is used for formal dinners.
Smithsonian Institution - A rich English researcher, James Smithson, left all his money to create a museum in Washington, D.C. to “the increase and diffusion of knowledge.” And he never even visited the United States! He also left his scientific library and his collection of minerals for the new museum. The Smithsonian is not just one building. It is a network of museums and art galleries, research projects and special performances. It includes 14 museums. Some of them are the National Air and Space Museum, the Museum of Natural History and the National Portrait Gallery.
Vietnam Veteran's Memorial - This memorial to the men and women who died in the Vietnam War also serves to remind the people who didn't agree with the United States' participation in the unpopular war that thousands of Americans lost their lives in the jungles of Vietnam.

0351 USA - Arizona

private swap

It is said that the name Arizona is derived from the Native American word 'arizonac' which means 'place of the small spring'. It is also called The Grand Canyon State and The Copper State. Arizona is located in the southwestern region of the United States.
'Interesting' is one significant word that aptly describes this state, as it is a confluence of several cultures, geographical segments and social factions. Apart from this, Arizona also has a fascinating history related to the natives like Apache and Hopis, stretching right up to the hunts for the Cíbola, treasure troves and the legendary cities of gold.

0345, 0346 USA - California, California Gold Rush

private swap

California, "The Golden State", is the fourth largest producer of gold in the United States, following only Nevada, Utah, and Alaska.
The discovery of gold on the South Fork of the American River at Sutter's Mill, near Coloma, in 1848 led to the fabled California Gold Rush of 1849. Unlike traditional hard-rock deposits, California's gold was readily available on the surface, concentrated into rich placer deposits which an inexperienced prospector with minor tools could reasonably expect to exploit.

0344 USA - Wisconsin

private swap

Wisconsin symbols you can see on the card.
What places in Winsconsin would intrigue someone who doesn't live here?
I think Wisconsin earned three spots: The Apostle Islands, Bayfield ("sanctuary on North America's largest lake); The American Club, Kohler ("from company town to luxe golf resort"); and Canoe Bay in Chetek ("elegant escape deep in the north woods").
Canoe Bay - The spring-fed lakes, deep pine forests, and clean air of northwestern Wisconsin's Indianhead region have long made it a getaway for everyone from industrial-era tycoons to U.S. president Calvin Coolidge.
Near Chetek, the 280-acre Canoe Bay resort brings alive that era of back-to-nature luxury for those seeking solitude and respite. With no children, telephones, jet skis, or motorboats to pierce the serenity, Canoe Bay frequently makes the list of ‘most romantic' getaways.
