The Vienna U-Bahn is a rapid transit (metro) system consisting of five lines. It is the backbone of one of the best performing public transport systems worldwide. The line drawing U5 does not exist, while the numbering of the U-Bahn system runs generally from U1 to U4, the fifth and last line have the name U6. The reason: In the course of the first underground plannings the most different draughts were worked out for a line U5, however - were mostly put back for financial reasons - over and over again.
