Potsdam was the residence of the Prussian kings and German Kaisers until
1918. The rococo splendour of Schloss Sanssouci was Frederick the
Great's answer to Versailles. Combined with the Orangerieschloss
(Orangery), the Neues Palais (New Palace), Schloss Charlottenhof
(Charlottenhof Palace), and the 500 ha of parks around them, they form
the largest World Heritage Site in Germany.
