The building that houses this museum at one time belonged to Juan Pablo Duarte, considered Father of the Country. He was an important figure in local history who led the movement for independence that culminated successfully in 1844 when Haitian rule, begun in 1822, came to an end. On display in this museum are various objects and documents related to the life and beliefs of the man responsible for the Dominican Republic being what it is today.

Puerto Rico officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, is an unincorporated territory of the United States, located in the northeastern Caribbean east of the Dominican Republic and west of both the United States Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands.

There is so much to see and do in Puerto Rico that the unaware visitor might be overwhelmed and end up missing some of the best sights the island has to offer. 

Here are my votes for the top 5 attractions on the island. Included are:

• an ancient fortress; 
• a tropical rainforest; 
• a bioluminescent bay; 
• a natural underground cave system; 
• and a tiny islet with breathtaking beaches..

The Dominican Republic Holidays and festivals are celebrated with vigor, music, dance and pageantry. 

The majority of the celebrations are surrounded by the Fiesta Patronales, they are celebrations that are held in honor of the Patron Saint.
Every Town has it's own festival of the Patron Saint, and on an appointed date each year, locals start the celebration which includes a wooden image of the Patron Saint that is carried all over the town by men and women.
Music, prayer and joyous parades, are part of the celebrations, "Las Fiestas Patronales" varies slightly in the different towns.
Samana and Higuey are known for the most colorful and artful Dominican Republic holidays celebration of the fiesta Patronal.

The archipelagic republic of Trinidad and Tobago is located on the southernmost corner of the Caribbean Sea and boasts of diverse terrain and several small landforms. Lying northeast of Venezuela, the dual-island nation of Tobago and Trinidad is home to several tourist hotspots like Port of Spain, San Fernando, Scarborough and more. Of the two Caribbean islands, Trinidad is bigger and more densely populated than Tobago which only claims 6% of the total area and 4% of the entire population.  

Although Trinidad and Tobago are two separate islands, they are treated as one single country. Trinidad was named by Christopher Columbus, who discovered this island during his third voyage to the New World on 31 July, 1498. 

The denizens of Tobago are called Tobagonians and those hailing from Trinidad are called Trinidadians or Trinis. Together the people of Trinidad and Tobago are referred to as "Trinbagonians."

     The Spanish West Indies also known as "Las Antillas Occidentales" was the contemporary name for the Spanish colonies in the Caribbean.

    It consisted of the present day nations of Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Saint Martin, the Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Montserrat, Guadalupe and the Lesser Antilles, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Trinidad, and the Bay Islands.
    The islands that later became the Spanish West Indies were the focus of the voyages of Christopher Columbus in America. Largely due to the familiarity that Europeans gained from Columbus's voyages, the islands were also the first lands to be permanently colonized by Europeans in the Americas. The Spanish West Indies were also the most enduring part of Spain's American Empire, only being surrendered in 1898 at the end of the Spanish-American War.

Marigot is the main town and capital on the French side of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin. Originally a fishing village on a swamp for which it was named, Marigot was made capital during the reign of King Louis XVI, who built Fort St. Louis on a hill near Marigot Bay. Today, that building is the most important in Marigot.

Philipsburg is the main town and capital on the Netherland side of the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten. The island was first sighted by Christopher Columbus on 11 November 1493, but there was already an Arawak settlement there before his discovery. Philipsburg was founded in 1763 by John Philips, a Scottish captain in the Dutch navy; the settlement soon became a bustling centre of international trade.
